Senior Editor - HGB, Melbourne

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a senior editor to join our team to work across our illustrated and narrative non-fiction books, including food and drink, lifestyle, health and wellbeing, biography, politics and sport.

Reporting to the head of editorial and working closely with the publishers, you will oversee the editorial process for individual titles, from manuscript through to print.

To be successful in this role, you will have 4+ years of editorial experience, including in-house, be confident in managing multiple titles, and understand every aspect of book production. You’ll be just as comfortable editing, proofreading and writing copy as you are maintaining schedules and budgets, or assisting with design briefs and photo shoots. You’ll be a natural at author care and working with freelancers. 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Impeccable organisational and editorial skills

  • Good creative judgement

  • The drive to maintain high editorial standards and work well within a team

  • You will love words but equally be excited by innovative design and illustrated titles

  • A working knowledge of Adobe Creative suite, particularly InDesign, is strongly preferred

  • Experience working on illustrated books and/or cookbook is preferred but not essential.
